Details

A plush cotton chenille woven in a checkerboard of soft color and cream, the squares a little irregular like a hand knit. Yellow, pink, sage or blue.

  • Checkerboard squares about 4 inches
  • 100% cotton chenille, machine wash cold, gentle cycle, dry flat or on low

Materials + Care

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Wash separately for the first few cycles: deep and saturated colours release a little dye at first. Do not bleach, do not dry clean.

Textured weaves such as seersucker, waffle and gauze are meant to look relaxed: they need no ironing, and they soften with every wash.

Shipping + Returns

Free standard shipping on orders over $99. Standard delivery takes 6 to 10 business days, priority 5 to 8. You'll get a tracking number as soon as your order ships.

Free returns for 60 days. Sleep on it, literally. If it isn't right, start a return from your account and we'll send you a prepaid label. Items should come back in a re-sellable condition.

Wrong size? We'll exchange it, and we cover the shipping both ways.

The fabric

Cotton chenille

A tufted cotton yarn woven into a thick, plush cloth that drapes like a heavy blanket.

What chenille is

What chenille is

Chenille is French for caterpillar. Short cotton fibers are trapped between twisted core yarns, so each yarn comes out fuzzy all the way around. Woven together, they make a dense, velvety surface.

Checkered Cotton Chenille Throw, Why the checks look soft-edged

Why the checks look soft-edged

The pattern is woven, not printed. Each square is its own color of yarn, and the plush pile blurs the line where two colors meet, which gives the checks their soft, hand-drawn look.

Cold, gentle, and flat

Cold, gentle, and flat

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Dry flat, or tumble on low. Never iron it: heat and pressure flatten the pile that makes chenille feel the way it does.

Questions about this fabric

Is it heavy?

It has real weight, which is what makes it drape over a sofa arm or the foot of a bed instead of sliding off.

Will it shed?

A few loose fibers can come off in the first washes. That settles down quickly.

Can I iron it?

No. Ironing crushes the pile.
