Details

Percale sheets feel cool the moment you get in, because the plain weave leaves space between the threads for air to move. The elastic runs the full circumference rather than just the corners, so the fitted sheet does not pop off at four in the morning.

  • 100 % cotton percale, cool to the touch
  • Elastic all the way round the fitted sheet
  • Fitted sheet, flat sheet and two pillowcases

Materials + Care

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Wash separately for the first few cycles: deep and saturated colours release a little dye at first. Do not bleach, do not dry clean.

Textured weaves such as seersucker, waffle and gauze are meant to look relaxed: they need no ironing, and they soften with every wash.

Shipping + Returns

Free shipping on orders over $99. Orders leave our warehouse within 1–2 business days, Monday to Friday. You'll get a tracking number as soon as it ships.

Free returns for 60 days. Sleep on it, literally. If it isn't right, start a return from your account and we'll send you a prepaid label. Items should come back in a re-sellable condition.

Wrong size? We'll exchange it, and we cover the shipping both ways.

The fabric

Percale

One thread over, one thread under. The weave every good hotel uses, and for a reason.

Cotton, and why the staple matters

Cotton, and why the staple matters

Cotton is graded by staple, the length of the individual fibre. Long-staple cotton has fewer loose ends at the surface, so it stays smooth instead of going fuzzy after a few months. Short-staple cotton is cheaper and it shows by the third wash.

Floral Percale Sheet Set, The plainest weave there is

The plainest weave there is

Percale is a simple over-under grid with nothing on top. That leaves space between the threads for air to move, which is why it feels cool the moment you get in. It is matte, never shiny.

Crisp now, quiet later

Crisp now, quiet later

Percale arrives with a papery crispness that softens over the first few washes without ever going limp. Tumble dry low. Iron it only if you like a sharp bed; it is not needed.

Questions about this fabric

Percale or sateen?

Percale if you sleep warm and like a crisp, matte bed. Sateen if you feel the cold and want something smooth with a soft sheen. It is a question of temperature, not of quality.

Does a higher thread count mean better?

Only up to a point. Past roughly 400, the extra threads are usually thinner or double-counted, and the fabric breathes less. A 200-thread percale in long-staple cotton beats a 1,000-thread anything.

Will it pill?

Long-staple percale should not. Pilling comes from short fibres working loose at the surface, which is exactly what long staple avoids.
