Details

Waffle knit traps air in its pockets. That is what makes a light throw noticeably warmer than it looks.

  • Waffle knit, raised cells
  • Light but insulating
  • Hemmed edges, no fringe

Materials + Care

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Wash separately for the first few cycles: deep and saturated colours release a little dye at first. Do not bleach, do not dry clean.

Textured weaves such as seersucker, waffle and gauze are meant to look relaxed: they need no ironing, and they soften with every wash.

Shipping + Returns

Free standard shipping on orders over $99. Standard delivery takes 6 to 10 business days, priority 5 to 8. You'll get a tracking number as soon as your order ships.

Free returns for 60 days. Sleep on it, literally. If it isn't right, start a return from your account and we'll send you a prepaid label. Items should come back in a re-sellable condition.

Wrong size? We'll exchange it, and we cover the shipping both ways.

The fabric

Waffle and textured weaves

A raised grid you can see from across the room and feel under your hand.

Cotton, and why the staple matters

Cotton, and why the staple matters

Textured weaves need a cotton with body. The relief is built from the thread itself, so a limp yarn gives a flat, disappointing cloth however good the loom.

Waffle Knit Throw, Relief instead of pattern

Relief instead of pattern

Waffle and basketweave take several threads at a time in each direction, which raises a grid across the surface. It adds texture to a room without adding a print, and it traps a little air, so it is warmer than it looks.

It fluffs up with washing

The relief becomes more pronounced over the first few washes as the yarn relaxes. Tumble dry low. Do not iron; flattening the grid is the one way to spoil it.

Questions about this fabric

Is waffle scratchy?

No. The relief is soft to the touch; it is texture, not roughness.

Does it snag?

The raised grid can catch. Keep it away from Velcro and rough jewellery.

Warm or cool?

Warmer than a flat weave, because the pockets hold air. It is the throw you reach for in October.
